We are here to help.  A conversation is always welcomed but here are a few topics you might find easier to read about.

What determines the price of a guided fly fishing trip.

Before you connect with your guide there has been a lot of behind the scenes work that has already taken place.  When you are fishing with an experienced guide they take much of  their own personal time and previous trips to make sure you have the experience you're looking for. At Wild Fly Anglers many of the flies you are fishing are hand tied by your instructor. Rods are rigged ahead of time to ensure you get the most out of your trip. Only the highest quality rods and materials are used to insure your success for the outing. We do not cut any corners. Insurance, permitting, rods, reels, waders, boots,  boat  maintenance, storage fees and gas all add up. Believe it or not a lot of a guides income goes right back into the business in order to stay up to date with trends and new styles of fishing.  We are always trying to provide the latest within the sport. Just because we spend 5-8 on the water with our guests that does not mean the day is done. Organization and preparation is key to provide clients with a positive and successful experience.

You should plan to tip you guide between  15%-25% of your booked day rate. Base your tip on you guides diligence, friendliness, skill, willingness to teach and go the extra mile. Since your guide cannot guarantee how many fish you catch, this should not be a primary tipping factor.

Tips are always greatly appreciated. Guide trips can be categorized like any other service you might take part in, such as eating out at a restaurant , tipping your bar tender, raft trips or caddy service during a game of golf.  This greatly helps to compensate for an extremely high overhead that is associated with fly fishing.

We are in the elements and sun for the duration of the day. This means you will need to take precautions in order to protect yourself. A hat, sunglasses, long sleeves and sunscreen are a must. If we are on the river it is a good idea to carry a backpack with a water bottle and room to store layers as needed. Water is provided on boat trips and will stay with the vehicle while on walk & wade trips. If you have your own equipment and prefer to use it we encourage you to communicate this with your guide and to bring it along.  You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the determined fishing location.  If you have any special requests please communicate this when booking.

What you need to bring

Bananas

The banana superstition dates all the way back to the 1700's, when many lost or ill fated ships were noted to have been carrying bananas to their destination. It is perhaps because of this occurrence that bananas became omens of danger and misfortune for ships. Fisherman also believe bananas to be bad luck as well as blame them for not catching fish, mechanical issues or even bad weather.  I myself am not superstitious but why not take all the help we can get. Leave the bananas at home and enjoy after your trip.
