Hey there, I know it has been awhile since I've checked in. Lots of adventures and great days of fishing have taken place over the summer and now we are into the Fall. We have a great end of general season to look forward to, with current conditions cranking out some epic fishing, it should only continue to improve over the coming weeks.
A little recap of this summers activities.
May was amazingly good on Crowley Lake this year. If you haven't been able to book a spring trip to this powerhouse fishery I would highly recommend putting it on your priority list. From opening day on it was lights out, as good as it gets. No exaggerating I had single clients put 50+ fish in the net on half day trips. May is always a great time to get some good action on Crowley Lake as the water is clean, cool & we see some great early season midge hatches which get the fish on point.
June was a little back and forth with consistency this year but the rivers were still in good shape so we enjoyed some variety and overall had pretty mild temps which kept the fishing productive.
July is always a busy one and it seems to fly by so fast. McGee was the ticket and the shallow water was the main focus on Crowley Lake.
Before I knew it I was on my way north to Alaska. Man was it a good in August. I managed to get 3 float trips down American Creek and it was something special. Low water made for some challenging days of floating but big trout were plentiful and as always it was an adventure for the books. Alaska is hard to describe to those who have yet to make the trip. Even then there is such a variety of options that your experience can differ so greatly from one fishery to the next. Regardless you are pretty well guaranteed to land some giant fish. American Creek is a wild and scenic river that, over time, I have built a great relationship with. A journey down this fishery is nothing short of that, a journey. Getting droped via float plane at the top of the system leaves you 45 miles or so to float before getting picked up at the bottom and shuttled back to town. We break camp daily, fish until 6-7 pm, set camp, cook, clean, sleep and repeat. It's not a trip for just anyone and it will test you physically and mentally while taking in some of the most memorable days of fishing you could imagine. I could go on and on about this trip, if anyone is truly interested, I welcome a conversation about booking a trip for 2026.
Current conditions update...........
Okay, back to the home front. Fishing on Crowley is really ramping up. This last week we have seen consistent numbers and it seems to be improving each day. This should continue though mid to end of October. Last day for boat operations out of Crowley Lake Fish Camp are scheduled for 10/26/2025. I am fairly open through October and would love to show you a great day of fishing. Don't hesitate to reach out. Currently we have been getting fish anywhere from 3'-12' depth which makes casting a breezy and the fish very willing to take a fly.
Later this Fall I will be taking bookings for Steelhead trips on the Trinity River near Weaverville, CA which is located just west of Redding, CA. If you're interested in a float trip please reach out as I am now taking bookings starting October 15-end of December.
As always I like to let the photos do the talking. Take a look at some of our recent catches from Alaska and the last few weeks at Crowley Lake.
