It's starting to feel like Summer. We have finally seen a good run of weather and the trout are loving it. It's been busy lately and everyone has been catching fish. We have seen some really productive days of trout fishing on Crowley Lake. With warm temps and cool water its the perfect time of year to be fishing in the Eastern Sierra.
Streams are flowing strong with runoff and Crowley Lake is on the rise. This is great for extending our fishing into the warmer days of the season. Right now we have been doing best fishing structure at depths of 14'-22' using flashy midge patterns size #16-#18. When fishing this depth a sliding indicator rig works best. Make sure to move around and change flies if you aren't getting bit. There are plenty of midges hatching daily and the trout are feeding aggressively, you should be catching good numbers of trout each day.
The local stream fishing has been fun as well. We finally saw the East Walker River come up with flows reaching 140 cfs last week. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this lasts for awhile and gets the fish spread out in that system. As always I'll let the photos do the talking. I have plenty of open dates in June and I know this will be some of the best fishing we see over the next several weeks. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or trip inquiries. I look forward to our next day on the water.
Jason Christian.
